Pakistani Truck Art

Pakistani indigenous truck art is quite a well known form of truck painting around the world. For decades, it has been a homegrown art-form in   Pakistan, where the whole idea of decorating trucks, buses and lorries with beautiful floral patterns, scenic views and poetic calligraphy, is to give a colorful break to the hectic long routes and monotonous ambiance of highways and motorways.

Although the history of truck art is even older than the history of Pakistan, but it came into lime light in the early 1970’s. Since then this art form has evolved from a painted picture at the back of the truck to full scale paintings of heavenly landscapes, portraits of heroes and ornamental decoration all around the vehicle.

Since the sparkling and vibrant art has crossed the borders in 1980’s now you may find glimpses of Pakistani truck art on trams, trains or buses in Australia, Canada, UK and many other European countries. In the recent years this Pakistani folk art-form has notably fascinated the fashion designers of home decor and fashion apparel, so now traditional product influenced by flashing Pakistani truck art is considered as an inimitable fashion statement of its own kind.
